In the past couple of years we’ve had some issues with downtime originating from problems at the data center level. Even though we’ve maintained an industry standard 99.9% uptime, that still equals several hours a month of downtime on average. We usually don’t have any down time month to month. But when we did in the past it happened in spurts, we ended up with downtime being for hours or even at worst several days at a time, like when hurricane Katrina knocked out a backbone to the data center in Miami. We found out the hard way that the data center didn’t setup our network redundantly as they claimed. They where suppose to have the datacenter setup so that if one backbone provider was experiencing a failure another backbone provider would take-over.  We find this unacceptable, in this day in age of the internet technology when it’s possible to have 100% uptime if you do everything right.

With many of our customer’s livelihoods depending on their web site it’s critical that their web sites do not experience any downtime and are serving pages quickly to their visitors.
